S novým albem 'The Source' dodává Arjen Lucassen úplně novou pracovní kapitolu projektu Ayreon, jež spatřil světlo světa v polovině 90. let. 'The Source' nabídne opět vše, čím si získal fanoušky po celém světě - impozantní obsazení zpěváků a hudebníků, podmanivé písně, ohromující zvuk a poutavý příběh.
Mezinárodní postavení Ayreon je takové, že Arjen Lucassen mohl psát příběh na tělo dalším velmi respektovaným zpěvákům: James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Tommy Giles Rogers (Between the Buried and Me), Simone Simons (Epica), Mike Mills (Toehider), Floor Jansen (Nightwish), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus), Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia), Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind), Zaher Zorgati (Myrath), Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) a Russell Allen (Symphony X). Speciální hudební příspěvky předvedli kytaristé Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big), Guthrie Govan (The Aristocrats, Asia, Steven Wilson), Marcel Coenen a na klávesy Mark Kelly (Marillion).
Stejně jako na všech předchozích albech, Arjen Lucassen hraje na širokou škálu nástrojů a famózní bubeník Ed Warby (o.a. Elegy, Gorefest, Hail Of Bullets) dodává celému vystoupení Ayreon ty pravé grády.
